Preventive care recommendations for adult vaccinations
Practice Fusion developed the population health management adult vaccinations program based on preventive care recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the 2015 CDC recommended adult vaccination schedule. We have also added new notifications for potentially at-risk seniors (65+) who do not have a pneumococcal or influenza vaccine recorded in their chart.
The vaccinations included in this program are:
- Measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR)
- Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Td/Tdap)
Adult vaccinations clinical decision support
To help you identify individuals who have not received the recommended vaccinations, clinical decision support notifications will be displayed in the new chart note screen for eligible patients.
This notification may not be vaccine-specific: the notification is displayed for patients who are missing any recommended vaccinations according to the CDC-recommended adult vaccination schedule. We have also added new notifications for potentially at-risk seniors (65+) who do not have a pneumococcal or influenza vaccine recorded in their chart.
Additional CDS support for patients 65 and older
For patients 65+, vaccine-specific CDS notifications will display for patients who do not have the CDC recommended pneumococcal and flu vaccines recorded in their chart, according to the latest (September 2015) CDC vaccination guidelines. To resolve the adult vaccination CDS notification, follow the link in the notification to document the appropriate vaccine in the patient’s Immunizations tab.
