Ryan Howard Founder and Chairman of the Board

Ryan is the founder and Chairman of the Board of Practice Fusion. He founded the company in 2005 and has grown it into the largest physician-patient community in the US. Serving over 80 million patients, the platform connects doctors, pharmacies, labs, and imaging centers to solve healthcare’s biggest challenges. Under Ryan’s leadership, the company has raised $149 million in capital from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Orbimed Advisors, Deerfield Management Company, Artis Ventures, Founders Fund, Felicis Ventures and Band of Angels to fuel its rapid growth.

Ryan has spoken on health technology and innovation at Microsoft, Stanford, UC Berkeley, HIMSS, SDForum and Commonwealth Club events and has been quoted by the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and Wired as an innovative leader in the sector. He has been recognized as one of the Top 40 under 40 by the San Francisco Business Times, Silicon Valley 100 by Business Insider and was named a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum.

Outside the office: Riding his Ducati, Shaolin-Kempo, scuba diving, entrepreneurship and volunteering for non-profits

Tom Langan Interim CEO and Chief Commercial Officer


Tom is Practice Fusion’s Interim CEO and chief commercial officer who leads the teams responsible for attracting new partners and driving new data-driven opportunities for the company. He joins Practice Fusion from Symphony Health Solutions, where he served as the company’s chief commercial officer with management responsibility for monetizing integrated data assets, predictive analytics, cloud-based apps and software solutions for the pharmaceutical industry. Tom also previously served as the chief commercial officer for MediMedia, where he led the pharmaceutical group strategic growth plan, strategic positioning, and new product development. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and economics from Fordham University.

Outside the office: Spending time with his wife and rooting for the Fordham Football Team and NY Giants

Matthew Douglass Co-Founder & Vice President, EHR Experience



As Practice Fusion’s technology co-founder, Matt created the SaaS technology framework that enables rapid development of the electronic health record’s nationwide platform, now used daily by over 100,000 medical professionals. He has spoken on healthcare technology at SDForum, Health 2.0, MIT, Stanford, and Microsoft events.

Outside the office: Running marathons, playing softball and rooting for the Texas Rangers

Passionate about: Unlocking health data from paper charts in an effort to streamline health communication and give patients direct access to their information

Jonathan Malek Co-Founder & Chief Technical Officer



Jonathan leads Practice Fusion’s technology strategy, ensuring IT architecture remains scalable and reliable while pursuing new directions in areas such as mobile connectivity and API integration. Before joining Practice Fusion, Jonathan oversaw IT architecture as Chief Architect and Director of Research of the Associated Press, which handles billions of transactions monthly, and assisted its move towards a greater digital presence. Jonathan is a graduate of the University of California, Davis.

Outside the office: Spending time with my wife and two daughters, reading, history and travel

Todd Martin Chief Business Operations Officer



Todd is responsible for Practice Fusion’s business development, customer and partner success and legal teams. He is helping Practice Fusion’s considerable growth by bringing together technology, standards and people amid a highly evolved healthcare IT marketplace. A seasoned business development and technology executive, Todd brings more than 20 years of experience from startups and large public companies alike, including the Associated Press. His experience ranges across sales, product management, software development, consulting and product enablement. Todd holds a degree in Engineering from the University of California, Davis.

Outside the office: Jogging, camping, backpacking and spending time with his wife and three sons

Passionate about: Improving care and saving lives with a complete healthcare application and service network for physicians and patients alike

Robert Park Chief Financial Officer


Robert leads the finance, accounting, human resources and facilities teams at Practice Fusion. Robert has over 20 years of experience, with the last 15 years in finance executive positions. Prior to joining Practice Fusion, he was the vice president of finance at Chegg, Inc., the leading student-first connected learning platform. Before that, Robert was the vice president of finance for PayPal, where he led the finance and accounting teams through a period of high growth and international expansion. He also spent seven years in finance executive positions at McKesson, both in the healthcare information technology division and at corporate headquarters. Robert started his career at Ernst & Young in San Jose, California. Robert holds a B.S. in Business Administration from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and is a certified public accountant (inactive).

Outside the office: Cycling up and down the peninsula, golf, alpine skiing, and spending time with his wife and three young boys

Jim Chou Vice President, Engineering


Jim leads the Engineering organization at Practice Fusion, enabling world-class engineers to build life-saving products for providers, patients, and partners. He is also responsible for recruiting top-notch talent to extend Practice Fusion’s iterative, continuous improvement culture into end-to-end software delivery. Jim previously led engineering teams at Tellme, a Microsoft speech recognition subsidiary, architecting service solutions for Fortune 100 clients and internal Microsoft partners alike. Jim holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University.

Outside the office: Classical violinist, baseball fan (26 of 30 parks checked off the list), and new puppy parent of 1-year old James (name origin unrelated)

John Hluboky Senior Vice President, Technical Operations



John is responsible for Practice Fusion’s Technical Operations team, including datacenter and infrastructure support of Practice Fusion’s EHR and corporate IT functions. John draws on over fourteen years in technology and leadership experience, most recently from the Consumer division of security company McAfee, where his team supported a billion dollar ecommerce engine servicing 40 million customers. He holds an MBA with focus on strategic leadership from Norwich University.

Outside the office: Triathlons with Team in Training, supporting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

Passionate about: Providing a secure technology platform enabling the availability of patient information anytime, anywhere

Riyad Omar General Counsel


Riyad oversees legal operations at Practice Fusion. Riyad has over a decade’s experience managing legal affairs and advising senior executives on strategic and operational objectives. Prior to Practice Fusion, Riyad was VP/Principal Legal Officer for NewsRight, where he oversaw legal operations, and Associate General Counsel of Business Governance for the Associated Press, where he counseled on sales, technology, corporate, privacy, IP, strategic transactions and product matters, including the launch and maintenance of large-scale web platforms. Riyad holds a JD from Stanford Law School and a BA from the University of Southern California.

Outside the office: Spending time with his wife and daughter, great food, travel and high-octane college football

Passionate about: Putting sophisticated and secure health information tools in the hands of practitioners, patients and researchers

Octavia Petrovici Vice President, Program Management


Octavia oversees Program Management at Practice Fusion, organizing and leading the technology teams that develop the features of the core EHR and the products that make up the Practice Fusion, Patient Fusion and Data platforms. Hailing previously from Microsoft, where she led the teams that developed Microsoft’s speech and natural language solutions for Cortana, she brings extensive experience in guiding complex development cycles to completion. Octavia graduated from Smith College with bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics.

Outside the office: Sailing around the world, riding her Ducati, good coffee and fashion.

Passionate about: Using the power of technology and innovation to help people live fuller and longer lives.

Joe Priest Vice President, Pharmaceutical Partnerships


Joe Priest is Vice President of Pharmaceutical Partnerships at Practice Fusion. Priest joined Practice Fusion from SDI Health, where he served as its vice president and general manager of hospital analytics and healthcare profiles. Prior to SDI, Priest occupied executive roles at Solucient, LLC and NDC Health. Joe reports to Tom Langan, Chief Commercial Officer, and works with Practice Fusion’s executive team to develop strategic partnerships and new solutions with pharmaceutical manufacturers to engage with the company’s suite of data and analytics solutions, including the recently launched Insight platform. Joe holds a bachelor’s degree with concentrations in economics and marketing from Boston College.

Outside the office: Spending time with his wife and their three sons, biking, hiking, traveling and reading
