Academic Program Overview

Prepare students for a future in health information technology. Be part of the growing number of programs and courses empowering students with EHR experience.

Academic Program

I do not take for granted the ability to have my students access Practice Fusion as I was turned down by all of the major EHR vendors (most did not call back or e-mail). Practice Fusion is developing a good reputation for user friendly GUI and good support - Dr. Bob Hoyt – University of West Florida

Technology is playing an increasingly vital role in the practice of medicine. With the White House putting billions in economic stimulus funds behind the push for EHR adoption and a new wave of tech-savvy doctors entering the field, we are in the midst of a significant change in the healthcare sector. Preparation and education are the keys to success in this new technology landscape.

Practice Fusion’s Academic Program facilitates the integration of technology into the field of medicine. We support organizing and managing healthcare in a way that will benefit us all, clinicians and patients alike. Our position is that every medical school should include health informatics instruction in their curriculum.

Any university, college, instructor, medical student or resident can receive a free Academic License to use Practice Fusion’s Electronic Health Record (EHR).

I currently teach the medical informatics course for the Department of Physician Assistant Studies at NYIT. As part of that course I teach students about EHRs and have chosen to work with the Practice Fusion program. This choice was made because of its great cost benefit (free) and its ease of navigation. - Frank Acevedo, RPA-C, M.S

Practice Fusion is developing a good reputation for user friendly GUI and good support. This is complemented by the fact that Practice Fusion is adding features each month based on end-user feedback. - Bob Hoyt, M.D

Health Information Management Program

Practice Fusion is a valuable educational tool as well as a very attractive option for medical practices. I had 2 physicians and 10 practice managers in a 3-hour seminar this morning. I walked them through some exercises using my academic account and they were favorably impressed. - Brandy Ziesemer, RHIA, CCS
