Rename user Edit Levels...

I would like the edit level names changed so they do not have titles. This causes confusion to have a staff person listed as a "nurse" or an NP listed as an "Phys/MD/DO" in the system.

@Raymeg: If you go into the basic information page for a user (Setup -> Users -> double-click on the user -> Edit -> Basic Information), you will see a text box directly below the Edit Level radio buttons called "Degree." Whatever you put in that box will be displayed as that person's degree. As an example, one of my providers is actually a Physician's Assistant. I had to give him an Phys/MD/DO edit level so he could do his job, but the stuff that appears after his name is "PA-C, Rn, FNP" which is what I typed in that "Degree" field. I absolutely agree that the edit levels need to be changed, but at least they don't actually show up if you don't want them to. Good luck!

Thanks Rich for making us aware of that. However, the underlying problem is not a legal one, it's an understanding one. The staff see the "internal" edit levels and get confused. Since the edit levels have NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with what people's actual jobs are, it is absolutely RIDICULOUS to have them named that way. A simple numbering system would be better.

Hi Rich, Thanks for replying but actually the edit level does show up in the actual signed chart as my nurse's credentials. For instance, if she opens the chart initially it shows her name followed by PA (because that's the edit level I've given her) in the "seen by" area. This must be changed to my name every time so as not to show inaccurate credentials for her, even if it was a nurse visit (like a PPD placement or something). Do you have any suggestions? I can't think of anything else besides changing the programming within PF.
Thanks.

This seems like it would take 10 minutes of writing new code to allow Administrators to choose how credentials will appear in the chart. This clearly should be completely independent of edit level. Having a nurse appear in a signed document as a PA is not a good idea medico-legally at all. Please fix this.
Thanks.

Hi Raymeg, thanks for commenting! The edit levels in Practice Fusion are completely internal. They do not display on anything externally. So you will not need to worry about the edit level of a user being displayed on any documents or chart notes.

Entirely agree! The current names are very misleading and confusing.

I agree. Maybe allow the administrator to customize permissions for users as well.

I agree. We do not have a typical medical practice so it would be beneficial to edit the names to reflect our organizational structure.

I agree. There should also be more flexibility in what each level should be able to do. Only allowing finalization of a chart by an MD is an example of this, it should be configurable.
