Where do I track which MA did the Vitals on the patient...
Our MA's room the patients, take vitals and prepare the patient for the physician - now that we have no note we have no initials on who did it. How are other users managing this very important piece for accountability. If sonething is missed I want to know who missed it and retrain.
Practice Fusion expert answer:
You can view the activity on any patient's chart by going to the Patient Dashboard - main page when opening their chart. From there, click the link Click to view recent activity toward the center of the screen near the bottom of the page. The activity history will include the note User X updated the vitals and chief complaint for a chart note with date of service... If you don't see this, scan the length of the activity feed and use the link Get more entries... to go further into their history. You may also need to click the Refresh button above the activity feed.
In addition, account administrators are able to view all activity in your Practice Fusion account. This is in the Home section under the Activity Feed tab.
nnitler: From what I understand, setting people as NP's or MA's is ONLY referring to their edit level within Practice Fusion; it actually has NOTHING to do with what level of education they actually have. I also wish the Practice Fusion team had designed that particular module differently so it wasn't so confusing. Fortunately, when you change the edit level, there is a free text box where you can type in what education level they actually have. That way, when their name shows up in other parts of the system, it shows that education level and there is less confusion.
PF Staff Brian: Thank you for pointing out the "recent activity" feature. Unfortunately, this feature is actually quite tedious to use, since it shows ALL activity from EVERYONE in the practice for that patient. Finding a specific entry is very time-consuming. I would request that this feature be more user-friendly so we can easily find out who did what, just as nnittler is requesting.
The best way of doing this is to display the name of the person to last edit a certain element right next to that element. For example, in the Diagnosis list, it would show the name of the person who last added or edited each diagnosis somewhere in the entry for that diagnosis. This name would also be a link, so that if you clicked it, it would show all the activity for that diagnosis and who performed each action. Similarly, if I were to look at a chart note, it would have a name (or perhaps even initials) next to the Vitals of the person who last changed them, and next to each section (S, O, A, P, and Finalization) would be the name or initials of the person who last edited that. Again, these would also be links to show the activity history for that particular element.
Another (less useful) way to do this is to have an activity link for each section of the chart which only shows activity related to that section. For instance, if I was in the Diagnosis List, the activity button would show who added or changed diagnoses and when. Similarly, if I was in the chart note, the activity button would show who edited the note (including vitals) and when.
i must be doing something wrong, I can only see that the accessed the chart not that they did the vitals and roomed the patient. I have already asked this question in a live chat but did not get a real response. If this was a paper chart, the MA would initial the vitals, I don't see where that is happening. My provider is asking why we have to make our MA's NP's or MD's so they can add the vitals anyway - I am sure we must have missed something in our training our entire staff can't be MD's and MA's ... thx
