The Success of a Free EMR Open House

Yesterday, we had our first-ever “EMR Open House” for the doctors at 450 Sutter in downtown San Francisco. We went into the event with an open mind, hoping the smell of oven-baked pastries and freshly-brewed Blue Bottle coffee would attract doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners and office staff to take a break from their busy day to meet an EMR company.

The day kicked off with a flood of hungry healthcare professionals looking to hear what we we’re all about. Some had offices filled with paper records and when asked if they were looking to go digital you could see the “HELP US” light up in their eyes. Others had heard of us but were skeptical of our free model – having struggled to make ends meet for their previous EHRs. What sets up apart from other vendors is that the fact that, not only were we able to demo the EHR at any moment in time, but we were able to sign up users right then and there (they really were “Live in Five”).

I saw new users meet their account managers and even a computer- phobic Practice Fusion doctor get onsite help from an Account Manager – the first step to becoming a computer-lover. The doctor was so thankful for our on-demand help that we even received a hug at the end. Talk about customer appreciation! It is just such a great feeling to be a part of something that truly makes doctors and patients happy. We saw a huge sigh of relief from new users who couldn’t wait to start fresh in the digital age.

There are so many misconceptions about EHRs and new technology in general, that it was nice to clear the air in person and expand our local fan base. Couldn’t make the event? Not to worry!
