Last week Practice Fusion EMR celebrated its three year anniversary on Thursday of last week. We have reached so many milestones and accomplished so much in such a short period of time that it’s hard to imagine what the next three years are going to look like. Our growth and success just goes to show that hard work, dedication and a cohesive team create an unstoppable force that has not only dominated the web-based EMR sector but is the No.1 EMR according to medical providers.
Three years ago we officially launched the flex/web-based version of the EMR (see image below). It’s pretty awe-inspiring to see how far we’ve come design-wise and feature-wise. Let’s take a walk down memory lane to see just how far we’ve come, shall we?

In three years we:
- We went from a team of Ryan to a team of Ryan plus 65 employees.
- We disrupted the EMR status quo with our free system, embracing the proven-to-be-true statement “the best things in life are free”.
- Cut down the implementation process with our Live in Five promise, from months to minutes.
- Went from a couple hundred users to over 70,000 in 2011 with over 8 million patients, becoming the fastest growing EMR in our first quarter. “Practice Fusion has added more users in the past quarter than the majority of our competitors will in an entire year,” said Ryan Howard, during the first quarter.
- Quest and LabCorp jump on the Practice Fusion movement, offering free lab integration to users.
- The H1N1 virus swept the country and we stepped up with an immediate support for our users. We identified over 300,000 at-risk patients and immediately alerted their physicians.
- We celebrate 400 percent growth! We Started the year off with 5,000 users and ended it with a bang- 25,000 users who serve over one million patients nationwide.
- Launched Patient Fusion, a free, web-based PHR.
- In 2010 we launched free e-Prescribing, the Practice Fusion Research Division, ChartShare, API integration, teamed up with Microsoft Azure, Dell and DeVry University.
- Practice Fusion Connect: Over 250 attendees came from all over the globe to meet the team, our sponsors and gain key insights from our educational breakout sessions.
- Practice Fusion provided immediate response to the Whooping Cough outbreak and FDA’s Darvocet recall.
- Our free EHR received ONC-ATCB 2011/2012 Certification!
- Hit 60,000 user mark and 5 million patients in 2010.
- Launched the healthcare challenge, Analyze This!, released the first of many iPad application solutions.
That right there, ladies and gents, is just a taste of what’s to come. We have surpassed so many goals we didn’t expect to reach so quickly and could not have done it without the support of our user community, Certified Consultants and health IT fans. Cheers to the next three years!
