The Canvas of a Patient’s Health Record

With all the discussion surrounding Healthcare Reform, it’s moving to see first-hand the struggle people go through to physically survive with or without health insurance. This moving video, originally posted on Health 2.0′s site, follows the story of a couple’s struggle to survive without insurance.

Regina Holliday, an artist and avid patient rights advocate, uses the streets as her canvas to share her family’s story and struggle for care. By the time her husband received health insurance, his immune system was in a state of despair and it was too little, too late. See the world through a patient’s eyes as she “paints to change medicine”.

Regina Holliday is a big supporter of patient access to personal health records (PHR) and with the rise of electronic health records, her call to action has finally been answered. For years her records were treated as proprietary information, taking her hours to get a hold of information that was often inaccurate and full of obsolete data. With electronic medical records such as Practice Fusion, she now has access to her health information online and can take action of her medical care, on her terms.
