Software Advice Updates Mental Health EHR Market Share Report

by: Brittany Richards

Thanks to Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive programs, healthcare providers now have to report Meaningful Use data to the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to qualify for incentive payments. The public now has access to information on EHR usage that was previously not available.

Software Advice recently compiled a report of attestations based on this data (for the field of psychiatry) in order to get a handle on the mental health EHR market share.

Out of the 74 vendors attesting Meaningful Use for the field of psychiatry, Software Advice listed the top ten vendors and the percentage of their stake in the market. Practice Fusion ranks second overall with a share of about 10 percent, ranking first for web-based EHRs.

Though attestations and market share are not the same thing, the amount of attestations reported for a software help provide a measurement of usage and can be a valuable assessment for medical professionals when purchasing software.
