Bill the Way You Want With Our New Partners

9/13/13 Update: Billing integrations are now available in your EHR. Read more about what this means for you.

We’re excited to offer you three new preferred billing partners, ADP AdvancedMD, CollaborateMD and NueMD—and more choice and flexibility for your billing workflow. Starting later this summer, you’ll be able to directly integrate your Practice Fusion billing into our partners’ web-based solutions, so you can focus on care while getting paid faster.

When our new billing partners become available, superbills you create in Practice Fusion will automatically sync with our partners’ software with a click of a button. With three options to choose from, you can also find the one that fits your practice best:

ADP AdvancedMD

collaborateMD

nuMD

  • Billing software and services

  • Customized pricing packages available

  • Billing software

  • Plans start at $149 per month

  • Billing software and services

While our partners will be integrated later this summer, we recommend getting started with them today to provide time for your practice to set up and adapt to the new software.

If you currently use a different software and don’t plan to switch, we also expect to connect to other select billing software and service options down the road—stay tuned. We’re excited to offer you new options so you can bill your way with Practice Fusion.

What will be the difference in integration between these partners and Kareo? Will the integration be “tighter” inanyway? Will any of the connections be bi-directional for example?

We’re just getting started with Kareo now. I wonder if we should put this on hold. Worried about the integration between PF and Kareo going down. [Though that "integration" is sorely limited.]

  • John Donald

How about Office Ally’s FREE PracticeMate?

  • JEK

We have 22 providers using PF and we have another PM software in house – How can we integrate our software to PM we have HL7 connection using TCP/IP Sockets.

  • Don Stelmaszek

We petitioned to get Practice Suite as one of the providers. They have good options and their service is great.

  • eva

So in essence these cost an extra $ 150 to have billing module?

  • cml7

I do not like Practice Mate, and it really was a waste of time when I was using it with our old system. Kareo is not very user friendly, but at least it is a uni directional interface, which has been better than nothing.

    Hope these are better.

  • Kimberly N. Cannon

I have been utilizing dual systems (NueMD & Practice Fusion) for 3 years with one of the practices that I manage under my Billing/management company CMOCC ~www.cmocc.com. NueMD is wonderful! If you review the demo, you will be amazed. This collaboration is well overdue.

  • Kimberly N. Cannon

    NueMd is so much better

  • Ken Truong, MD

Practice Suite is the cheapest option at only $60 per month, plus one time $150 integration. It could look nicer but it works. I hope Practice Fusion integrates with them soon.

  • Margie

I have a billing company that has been using NueMD for more than 4 years as a billing system. I have had the best support with NueMD and the quickest turn around on claims. I am very excited for the integration for the Practice Fusion providers I bill for, it will definately make the turn around even quicker.

  • EHRSOS

Agree with many of the other comments. We are not looking to change our PM as we add Practice Fusion to our office. We need to be able to integrate PF with the software we are already using – presumably some type of HL7 interface is on the way?

  • Eleanor Cochran

I also would like to know if Office Ally will be one of the vendors that will integrate with PF?

  • JD

Office Ally can be used just for billing. You do not have to use practice mate. They have the rability to take your batch claims from you own software. They are not free for medicare, medicaid etc. If those government type claims are more than a certain percentage of your claims they charge you a whole 20 bucks per month. Been using them for a couple years and if you can use PF then you can OA.

  • rae.mefford@cox.net

AWESOME! We have used CollaborateMD for over 10 years and LOVE LOVE LOVE them. Thank you|!

  • docluban

Can you tell me if you will be interfacing with Office Ally for the billing? I have been using it for years now, with information sent over to it from my Chiro 8000 program, and it is free, free, free. Yes, there are a few intermediate steps, but it is worth it at twice the price.

  • vince Culotta

    any word about medtopia integration

  • Dawn

How do theses rate with Kareo?
Will I have to put all the patient information in the new system?
Like I had to do when I went with Kareo? If so, that will be very time consuming.

  • Jason

Hi, I’m the Director of Sales with Kareo, and Kareo has every intention of keeping the data integration with Practice Fusion operational. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at jasonm@kareo.com. We’re here to serve.

  • Gastrodooc

Are you planning to coordinate with Lytec billing software anytime soon.

    Sanford N. Richman, MD

  • Larry Bergman

I agree. I do not want to switch my practice management software. I currently use Intergy and I am hoping that you will open an interface for development so that I am not forced to switch to e clinical

  • Cara Hamlin Buckhaulter

I agree. NueMD is the way to go. They have the best PM software and also offer a billing service with certified coders and billers.

  • Bryant Wesley

I would love to see —-Practice Suite—- integrated with PF. They currently offer HL7 Interface to Other EHR. great company to work with

  • Kimberly N. Cannon

I feel NueMd is much better. My billing company, CMOCC offer our services for the conversion of patient information for NueMD only.

  • Kimberly N. Cannon

Are you interested in using the NueMD in collaboration with PF?

  • Drppan

Would prefer PF to have billing capabilities instead of having partners but leave that option open for others to choose. Kareo has right idea to expand from billing to free EHR. That’s what PF should have done. Currently using free Practice Mate for in house billing. It is essentially free unless Medicare claims exceed PPO claims by a certain ratio, then it would amount to $30 per month. Kareo could not be competitive enough with pricing. If only PF could offer their own billing program free or charge up to $30 per month, that would be the best. In the mean time, I kindly request PF to integrate with Office Ally’s Practice Mate because it would improve workflow and reduce work duplication.

  • Kimberly N. Cannon

I have a billing company, CMOCC that has been using NueMD for several years
as a billing system. NueMD has the
quickest turn around on claims and a top notch support team. I am very happy with the integration
for the Practice Fusion providers. Because of the potential stress level of your practice in regards to the interfacing, we work with NueMd to absorb the work detail. It’s a wonderful system, I have not heard nor seen one bad remark about NueMD

  • Kimberly N. Cannon

Have you thought about subcontracting out your billing department? If that is done, the billing company will absorb the costs and the headaches.

  • Ca.Urology.Billing

Will you be integrating in with Zybex PM? We prefer to work with a california company, and Zybex software and support is excellent! This has been our billing software of choice for over 15 years, for their reliability and ease of use.

  • Practice Fusion

    Hi Joe,
The integration with our three preferred billing partners will allow for superbill data to flow seamlessly from Practice Fusion to their billing software, therefore reducing manual steps and increasing your office efficiency. We expect this functionality to be available in late summer. But this is only the beginning. We’ll be working with our preferred partners to continue to enhance our integration including looking into building bi-directionality and other time saving integrations.

  • Paul H Chen, MD

We have been CollaborateMD users for the past 8 years. I am pleased to hear about the Practice Fusion integration.

  • xxxx

We used ADP for our EHR and billing for a while. A long while. We gave them every chance to settle-in and come through. They were a nightmare. They could not do any thing right. If that is any indication of the company’s other departments….Their software, their staff, the technology, everything was a sad affair. By far the worst professional experience of my life. And I have been in this business (very successfully so, except for this debacle) for 30 years. We have been very happy with Practice Fusion, but now we are very sad and almost amazed at this.
How can these people at PF, who seem to be in a constant a pursuit of perfection, not know or not care about who they are partnering with.

  • http://www.practicefusion.com/ Practice Fusion

Hi there, thanks for sharing your previous experience. We will be working with ADP, the other billing partners listed and will explore other potential partners as well so there will be many options for you to eventually choose from. You can however, stick with whatever biller you prefer but we are definitely working towards adding more integration with billing companies +PF in the future. We will work with these partners to ensure that the implementation is a smooth and sufficient process, so please keep us updated if you do decide to use one of the new preferred partners.

  • Kimberly N. Cannon

I have been utilizing dual systems (NueMD & Practice Fusion) for 3
years with one of the practices that I manage under my
Billing/management company {CMOCC ~www.cmocc.com}. NueMD is wonderful! If you review the demo, you will be amazed. The staff, IT, and training team is second to none. This collaboration with NueMD is well overdue. As a owner of a billing company, I only prefer to work with NueMd…and I have tried serveral.

  • Practice Fusion

Later this year we’ll be opening up our platform to allow other select billing software and services to integrate with Practice Fusion. Stay tuned for more information on which partners will integrate with our platform.

  • Practice Fusion

Which software are you currently using? In addition to these preferred partners we’ll be opening up our platform to allow other billing software and services to integrate with Practice Fusion. We don’t have any immediate plans to offer an HL7 interface at the moment.

  • Medbill Guru

Any chance of an interface with TotalMD? I have personally used CollaborateMD, NueMD and Kareo (I haven’t used AdvancedMD but I know they are much more expensive when I looked into them) and I not only find TotalMD far superior but they are also less expensive as well. They may not have been around for as long and they don’t spend much money on marketing like these other guys but they have awesome software. I’d love to be able to offer Practice Fusion to all of my clients if you can interface with TotalMD. Thank you for your consideration.

  • Jim Eaton

We currently use Medisoft Software, is this a company that Practice Fusion will update with???

  • Jared S

    Hi Jason,
We’ve been using Kareo since 11/12, and it’s very frustrating.
Customer service is unresponsive, and we have difficulty with billing secondary insurances.
Because of these problems, we’re considering switching.
I hope Kareo can make improvements.

  • http://www.practicefusion.com/ Practice Fusion

Hi there, stay tuned for more specifics on how each integration will work, thanks!

  • JV

a very poor billing solution…avoid kareo…been with for about 1 year and its been a nightmare

  • Arlene

can you use MDON-line with Practice Fusion-Is there an interface between the two?

  • Debbie Vernon

Yeah!!!! I can’t wait for you to be interfaced with CMD. Have been using them or years and love them. Glad you are finally joining forces.

  • Dr. Bill S.

In december I swithced from practice Fusion to Dr. Chrono. I am now also doing my billing on Dr. Chrono and it’s been going pretty well. I’ve been through 3 different systems and so far it’s the best one I have found. It’s all 1 system. At this point i would recommend it.

  • Robert Patterson

how do we check out these billers and get ready to go ASAP.

Alao I signed up for the beta version of the iPad version of Practice Fusion. I have heard nothing. Where are you all with that?
    Dr. P

  • Kimberly N. Cannon

I personally know that NueMd is ready and waiting. I am the owner of CMOCC billing & adminstrative services and I have worked both systems Practice Fusion & NueMd for the last 3 years. I will be participating in the Beta testing for the interface. If nothing else, make sure your billing team is properly trained on both systems prior to the interface. If you are leaning towards NueMd, I would love to assist you. I can be reached at http://www.cmocc.com or cmocc1@comcast.net

  • Yasir

When will the integration with AdvancedMD?

  • Turkessa Taylor

Yes, I can agree 100% on the nightmare with Kareo!!!!! We made the choice to look elsewhere. Practice Fusion is Wonderful! Support, anything you need help with they are always there to answer your questions and help when needed!!!!

That lets me know that we are in good hands…… If Practice Fusion come out with a full Practice Management Software like the EMR… so many companies will be out of business.. lol!!! Practice Fusion is the best thing for my medical practice.

  • Turkessa Taylor

If I was your office Manager, I would look at another vendor then Medisoft… That software is expensive to continue to upgrade.. etc..

  • brandy dominguez

I would like more information on the NueMD billing software. Thank You.

Please consider partnering with Raintree. they are adept at building conduits to enable collaboration with a wonderful EHR such as Practice Fusion.

  • CDPH

I agree with the comments here about Medisoft and other billing applications out there — too expensive with all the “forced” upgrades, way too complicated for some basic, simple tasks, etc. We primarily bill Medicaid (837i and 837p HIPAA transactions) for our long-term care, intermediate-care, and waiver services, and we use and LOVE the HSys billing software (hsyssoftware.com) — we haven’t seen anything out there that is as easy to use.

  • Medisoft Var

Depending on your Medisoft Support you don’t necessarily have to upgrade every year. This coming from a Medisoft Var. We sell Medisoft and support all versions. For ICD-10 you do have to upgrade but after that, unless it will fix something we don’t force anyone to upgrade

  • jackie baer

please interface with OfficeAlly.. i have been using it for over 10 years as a rural health clinic and it is free, free, free and easy..

  • Eddie

When will this integration occur? Later this summer is kind of vague. Is there a legitimate timeline?

  • Dr J

Kareo sends billing to Capario(sp?) so it doing the setup hoops had to be jumped for each entity. Will you new partners act as both billing and clearinghouse? I assume we would have to resubmit requests for “new” clearinghouse with CMS!

  • Practice Fusion

Our engineering team is working with our partners right now to set up the integrations. Beta testing will begin this month, and we expect integration to be available to all of our users in the fall.

  • Cheryl E

I’m a very small rural health department. I don’t have a Medicare provider number any longer because they want $500. We don’t do enough Medicare business to justify cost of reapplying. My question is I do need to submit some claims to get a denial so I can bill Medicaid. I really love PF and my staff are working to start using. What billing claims software is out there that is truly FREE. We would be doing less than 75 claims per year
    Thank you for any input!!

  • Kimberly N. Cannon

Yes, you would need to bill to Medicare first to obtain the denial and then submit claims to your secondary carrier. You may want to outsource your billling at a reasonable fee and allow the billing company to absorb the cost.

  • farida

    we are working with kareo,
everyday we are checking if they send our claim to secondary after medicare
paid, they do not send statement correctly, we have to do
everything manually, we just keep until we find something better.please do not
take kareo is stressfull, wasting time. they charge per month 149.00$

  • Durga

Another solid PM/billing solution is Genensys (www.genensys.com). They furnish all the HL-7 connectors and can integrate with any EHR without issue. Also they are extremely easy to use, and priced competitively for unlimited claims and automated insurance eligibility checking (ie. no nickel-and-diming you on the back end!). Technically Genensys PM is a component of their own EHR, but they don’t mind selling it separately and have provided great support to all the practices who have been my clients.

  • Durga

Also Genensys is 100% ICD-10 ready, which is critical!

  • FWIC

    YES, YES, YES!

  • FWIC

    And Availity too!

  • JP77

If PF would only integrate with Office Ally and Availity which are both FREE, then they would have a COMPLETE EHR that would be COMPLETELY FREE! WHY DON’T they do this?!

  • Amy

Do NueMD or CollaborateMD offer credit card management/payment/processing? I can’t find any mention of this on their websites but thought I’d toss the question out here.

  • Andrea

I agree 100% Kareo is really bad, Customer service is the worst, too many problems with kareo.

  • Joe

We’ve had just the opposite experience. We got a free trial to start, got our billing up and running, and have enjoyed the software and support since. Very good pricing, too.

  • Reed

We use AdvancedMD. We would like to start using prctice fusion but dont want to put the info in 2 times. When will this be live?

  • Nan

We are currently on Visionary Medical software..they will not be going to ICD-10..any chance Practice Fusion will team up with Availity? The requirement is a software vendor that can transmit ANSI x 12 EDI files..using their EDI specifications as the header…does Practice Fusion meet this requirement?

Does PF have a ledger to keep track of office visits and fees? or is it completely absent?

  • drwoody2006

Does PF have a ledger to keep track of office visits and fees? or is it completely absent? I’m running a cash only practice so I won’t need to bill insurance, but it wold be nice to generate statements and HCFA’s as a curiosity to my patients who would like to submit themselves.

we use medisoft for our billing software why is so hard to get PF to understand that a lot of the practice already have software that they are use to and owen already so what we would like to see PF due is help each practice use the software they already have to help cut down the cost of upgrading because of heath care cost of being so unpredictable also there is a lot of other thing that need to be easier to integrate in the PF website being able to change the doc. file names to fit the practice etc. thanks

My practice currently uses Gateway as a billing warehouse vendor. We are happy with their services. Is integration available with Practice Fusion and Gateway. If so what is the turn around time and support available to make this transition seamless?

  • Seth Merritt, FNP, CATOM, CLS

I use office ally as well for 1.5 yrs, its free, great for a single man show like myself who is a medical provider doing the scheduling, billing, marketing and my own website. The less steps the better. Office ally has great customer service and the price is hard to beat.

  • Seth Merritt, FNP, CATOM, CLS

There are various requests for integration with Office Ally which has a free billing platform.
Can a member of the Practice Fusion team pleas respond to multiple user requests to find a solution to make communication better between Practice Fusion and Office Ally. Free EHR and free billing software = Great for me… but understand if there is resistance if someone isnt getting paid in this process.
It helps me run a 1 man show (medical provider, billing, scheduling, website). Low overhead = less patients, less work, LONGER PATIENT APPTS, and greater patient satisfaction and care.

Hi Seth – Thanks for the feedback. We are 100% committed to opening our billing API for additional software and service providers, and we certainly understand the interest from many of our users in OfficeAlly integration specifically. We are working hard to expand the integrated billing options available to our users, and we will keep you updated as we make progress in coming months.

  • Jim McLochlin

    Joe,

We currently use Practice Fusion and NuMed.

I understand the Superbill capability, but I’m curious if the data that we currently store in NuMed (patient apt. schedule, insurance information, copies of drivers license and Insurance cards) be stored in Practice Fusion or NuMed. We are currently operating in two systems and adding patient data twice. We need to eliminate this double entry process.

    Thanks. Jim M

We currently use Practice Fusion with Kareo as our billing software. We have been using Kareo for almost 2 years. The training videos and community forum work great in helping you find answers to your questions. Kareo works great with Practice Fusion and I would think of changing to any other system.

Our office currently uses Practice Fusion with Kareo and has been for about 2+ years. It is always a pleasure leaving a comment in regards to my satisfaction. Although, Kareo does have a couple of things I wish would change (i.e., copying and pasting the claims address for payers so many times) I would have to say, the positive, by far out weighs the negative. As the office manager and billing coordinator, I have set down and analyzed the price differences between the new billing options PF offers and what we currently have. The price isn’t much difference! And, I don’t have to worry about mailing the claims which is great! I read a lot of the reviews below that were very negative towards Kareo and am here to say…. I have not had this problem. Our office is currently and has always been under the payment plan that doesn’t include provider support, basically I figure it out on my own. However, every time I cant seem to resolve an issue I call for help and they always assist even when they know we don’t pay for it! They have very informative webinars and are there to answer all my questions. I heard someone say below that they had to enter all the patient info in the Kareo system but what they failed to say is that most of them were already in. They have the option to pay and have the integration transferred over from PF, which we did and I encourage. It is our responsibility, as medical coders to be proactive in learning new techniques and working hard toward getting claims paid in a timely manner, not the software. If we rely more and more on “software” doing the job for us, the demand for our jobs will be slim to none! My payment velocity/turn around time for claims last month was 29-30 days in cycle. Which in my opinion isn’t bad! So, the comment that was negative for them taking too long with submissions were a little off. I am a very satisfied customer with Kareo and do not see myself changing anytime in the near future. Thanks!

  • Tonya Minish

Also, the issue with billing secondary insurance really isn’t that hard. Just bill paper! As you most of the time have to send a copy of an EOB from the primary insurance anyway! And, it saves postal carriers their jobs! (my mother-in-law is a postal carrier, so I’m partial on this matter!) :)

We were promised a Nov 1st integration date for AdvancedMD and this has been moved back TWICE, would never had picked AdvancedMD, pay 500$ a month if I knew this ahead of time. Our office is very disappointed and we are strongly considering switching. Buyer beware.

  • http://www.practicefusion.com/ Practice Fusion Admin

Hi Karen, AdvancedMD is now fully live (they went live over the holiday). AdvancedMD was doing a slower rollout where they were setting up a small # of practices every week during the month of December. However, over the holiday break, they opened it up to all and are now fully live, so your account should be all set up. Let us know if it’s not.

What will happen to the Kareo bill? Will it continue to work and support ICD-10 post 10/1/14? We are a medical billing company and migrating all our Physicians to a new PM is not an option.

  • http://www.practicefusion.com/ Practice Fusion Admin

Hi Eddie, We will continue to support the Kareo integration but I suggest that you follow up with your Kareo rep on their plans for ICD-10, since we do not work with them directly on that.

We have a very small pracitce and tried Kareo for 3 months absolutye nightmare!

  • RicB

I actually like Kareo and it has worked out great. Their live chat is amazing and so is their customer service. But I am concern if PF is not going to be compatible with Kareo. I trained myself with Kareo and their customer support was great. Filing to secondary is easy.

  • BRATTON CLINIC

I just signed on with AdvancedMD. I had read all the negative reviews about implementation and the long time it takes to actually get started. My salesperson was Chris Burton (yes, Chris, I am putting you out there as a responsible party) who explained that the time frame includes getting set up with the EDI clearinghouse, and to interface with PF, which I understand. Chris promised that I would be in touch with an implementation specialist as soon as my paperwork was completed (4-5 days). I told him I felt like I could probably input most of my information since we are a solo practice and it should not take a long time to do so. My issue was that initially we were on a month to month basis, but after my payment information was given, the contract read 12 months. I sincerely hope that AdvancedMD is a honest company to work with and meets or exceeds our expectations. If not, poor Chris, you will be hearing from me!

  • Delta1

I tried Kareo. Sales people are quick and promise the world. The moment they transfer you to one of their billing managers, the unresponsiveness and delays begin. If you are east coast, everything is based on PT. I bailed out

  • Diane

I have been using Kareo for over 1 year now and have had no problems that have been mentioned in the previous comments. The system is very efficient. The To Do list on the home page is wonderful. The secondaries go out electronically without any problem if your system is set up correctly. I haven’t had any problem with the support so far. They go out of their way to help me and the chat line is great. Our average AR is usually between 20-25 days outstanding. The denial/rejection alerts are awesome. I researched medical billing software for over 2 months viewing demos etc. The pricing for Kareo is per provider instead of per monthly claims and Kareo has no set up fees. They provided all the EDI paperwork and processed with no fees. I am very pleased with Kareo. It seems as though some of the previous comments are from the vendors.
