Interested in health data, or know someone who is? There’s just one week left to work with one of the largest de-identified, HIPAA-compliant health data sets available The Practice Fusion Analyze This! 2012 Open Challenge will be ending on Monday, September 10, 2012. It’s your chance to fire up your analytical mind and get investigating!
In conjunction with our partner Kaggle, we’re offering a rare opportunity to all you data geeks out there: a trove of 10,000 de-identified medical records, rich with data on patient diagnoses, lab results, medications, allergies, immunizations, vital signs and health behavior.
All you have to do is synthesize our data with data sets from www.data.gov and share your findings for the chance to win the first prize of $7000—not to mention a boost to your karma when your amazing insights help heal patient suffering. We’re looking for big, innovative ideas—use your imagination! For example, you might discover that a cluster of diseases have a higher incidence among people living near active mines, or that certain psychiatric conditions are more prevalent in high unemployment regions of the country.
Whatever you find, be sure to post your results quickly. The deadline is fast approaching, but there is still time to build some brilliant analyses. Start brainstorming now—and if you have a great investigation idea, share it with us in the comments section below, even if you aren’t a data person! The best idea posted by Friday, September 7, 2012 will win a Practice Fusion hoodie, and we’ll feature the five best ideas in our next blog post. Happy exploring!
